The Jungle Giants
Formed in Brisbane, Queensland, in 2011, The Jungle Giants comprise Sam Hales, Cesira Aitken, Andrew Dooris and Keelan Bijker, four musicians who attended the same high school. Initially rooted in a tense, melodic indie rock, the Australian quartet gradually shifted its songwriting toward a more danceable indie pop, marked by prominent bass lines, chiming guitars and rhythmic work that at times flirts with electropop. After two EPs, The Jungle Giants (2011) and She’s a Riot (2012), they released Learn to Exist in 2013 and Speakerzoid in 2015, where the sound tightened and thickened. Quiet Ferocity, released in 2017, further emphasized the group’s pop- and night-oriented direction, before Love Signs in 2021 more clearly established Sam Hales as the principal architect of production and songwriting. In 2022 The Jungle Giants collaborated with Hermitude on “When You Feel Like This,” and they continued this evolution with new tracks leading up to Experiencing Feelings of Joy in 2026. Active on the Australian circuit from the start, The Jungle Giants have also played festivals such as Splendour in the Grass, Big Day Out and Groovin the Moo.
