Prince Royce

Born in the Bronx in 1989 to a Dominican family, Prince Royce—real name Geoffrey Royce Rojas—became part of the modern bachata movement infused with Latin pop and R&B. As a teenager he wrote his first songs and recorded demos before being discovered by producer Sergio George, which led to the release of the album Prince Royce in 2010, notable for a bachata cover of “Stand by Me” and romantic ballads supported by spare acoustic arrangements. With Phase II (2012) and Soy el Mismo (2013), he consolidated a style that blends traditional bachata with urban sounds and a more pop-oriented production while remaining focused on sentimental themes. Double Vision (2015) marked a shift toward English-language material and R&B, followed by a strong return to bachata on Five (2017) and Alter Ego (2020), which juxtaposes romantic tracks and more urban numbers. Through collaborations with artists such as Shakira, Daddy Yankee, Jennifer Lopez and Maluma, Prince Royce moves between tropical stages, Latin pop and reggaeton, alternating danceable songs with more intimate pieces. Active across North American and Latin American stages, he continued in 2024 with Llamada Perdida, extending a discography centered on the fusion of bachata, Latin pop and R&B influences.
