Karol G

Born in Medellín in 1991, Carolina Giraldo Navarro is known professionally as Karol G and has become a prominent figure in the Latin music landscape after an early start in Colombia, including an appearance on the show El Factor X and early singles released around the turn of the 2010s. Partly trained at the Universidad de Antioquia, Karol G’s music sits between reggaetón, urban pop and Latin trap, featuring direct songwriting and tracks that alternate melodic choruses, dembow rhythms and productions that range from lighter to darker depending on the period. After a 2014 stay in New York to deepen her understanding of the music industry, she signed with Universal Music Latino in 2016 and quickly broadened her audience with collaborations such as “Hello” with Ozuna and “Ahora Me Llama” with Bad Bunny in 2017. Her debut album Unstoppable (2017) established her urban base, followed by Ocean (2019), which embraced calmer atmospheres and pop formats. She went on to release KG0516 (2021) and Mañana Será Bonito (2023), while collaborating with artists like Anuel AA, Nicki Minaj, Becky G and Shakira. Across her discography Karol G has also expanded into a wider range of Caribbean and Latin colors, culminating in a 2024 single, “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido”, inspired by merengue.
