Yandel
Born in 1977 in Cayey, Puerto Rico, Yandel belongs to the generation of artists who shaped reggaeton and Latin urban music from the late 1990s onward. He first gained recognition as part of the duo Wisin & Yandel, active on the Puerto Rican and later Latin American scene, where the pair developed a club-focused reggaeton fueled by Spanish rap and melodic choruses. At the same time, Yandel launched a solo career with the album “Quien Contra Mí” in 2003, and consolidated this path in the 2010s with “De Líder a Leyenda” (2013), “Dangerous” (2015), “Update” (2017), “The One” (2019), “Quién Contra Mí 2” (2020) and “Resistencia” (2023). Yandel’s music blends classic reggaeton, urban pop and forays into Latin trap, characterized by prominent sung vocals, repetitive hooks and themes revolving around nightlife, romantic relationships and urban daily life. Present on major stages in Latin America, the United States and Europe, Yandel has collaborated with artists such as Daddy Yankee, J Balvin and Maluma across duo projects, features and solo releases.
