Accept
Originating from the hard rock scene in Solingen, Germany, Accept established themselves in the late 1970s as a heavy metal band led by guitarist Wolf Hoffmann and singer Udo Dirkschneider. The band developed a sound built on razor‑sharp riffs, often fast tempos and collective choruses, at the crossroads of traditional heavy metal and faster elements associated with speed metal. After early releases—Accept (1979), I’m a Rebel (1980) and Breaker (1981)—Accept gained prominence in the early 1980s European metal wave with Restless and Wild (1982), Balls to the Wall (1983) and Metal Heart (1985), which cemented a songwriting approach combining pronounced melodies, massive choirs and social or warlike themes. The late 1980s and early 1990s—Russian Roulette (1986) and Objection Overruled (1993)—saw hiatuses and reunions, while the lineup stabilized around Hoffmann, bassist Peter Baltes and various vocalists. From 2009 Accept resumed activity with vocalist Mark Tornillo and released studio albums such as Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017), Too Mean to Die (2021) and Humanoid (2024), continuing on stage and in studio a direct heavy‑metal aesthetic built around twin guitars and a precise rhythm section.
