Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden formed in 1975 around bassist and songwriter Steve Harris, soon joined by Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Bruce Dickinson, Nicko McBrain, and Janick Gers, establishing the core line-up that would leave its mark on heavy metal history. The band developed an instantly recognizable sound, blending galloping riffs, guitar harmonies, and epic narratives inspired by literature, history, and popular culture. From the early albums—Iron Maiden and Killers—to the decisive turning point of 1982’s The Number of the Beast, the group asserted a powerful, narrative-driven aesthetic that continued to take shape through the 1980s with Piece of Mind, Powerslave, and Somewhere in Time. The next period brought Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, a now-essential concept album, followed by a run of records accompanying changes in the line-up before the triumphant return of Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith in the late 1990s. In 2000, Brave New World signaled a creative rebirth that carried on with Dance of Death, A Matter of Life and Death, The Final Frontier, The Book of Souls, and 2021’s Senjutsu, confirming the band’s ability to evolve its songwriting without abandoning its signature. Deeply committed to the stage, Iron Maiden continues to mount monumental tours and remains a major reference point in heavy metal, thanks to a strong visual identity and a discography that has become foundational.
