Chicane
Under the name Chicane, Nicholas Bracegirdle has been developing melodic electronic music since the mid-1990s, a sound that originated in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, England. His music crosses trance, progressive house, ambient, balearic beat and chill-out, with compositions built around pads, melodic themes and an atmosphere often associated with the imagery of Ibiza and the British club circuits. Chicane first drew attention with "Offshore" in 1996, then broadened his palette with "Saltwater" in 1999, recorded with Máire Brennan, and "Don't Give Up" in 2000 with Bryan Adams, where electronic production met a more pop-oriented format. His debut album, Far from the Maddening Crowds, was released in 1997, followed by Behind the Sun in 2000. After remixes, side projects such as Disco Citizens and releases on his own Modena label, Chicane continued his discography with Somersault (2007), Giants (2010), Thousand Mile Stare (2012), The Sum of Its Parts (2015), The Place You Can't Remember, the Place You Can't Forget (2018), Everything We Had to Leave Behind (2021), Nevertheless (2023) and Trampolines (2024). From the start, Chicane has alternated between instrumental pieces, electronic songs and more atmospheric formats, both in the studio and on stage.
