Darkest Hour

Formed in Washington, D.C. in 1995, Darkest Hour develops a blend of metalcore and melodic death metal marked by fast guitars, harmonies inherited from the Swedish scene, and a hardcore approach in both rhythm and vocal intensity. After the EPs The Misanthrope in 1996 and The Prophecy Fulfilled in 1999, the band releases The Mark of the Judas in 2000, followed by So Sedated, So Secure in 2001, before more clearly asserting its identity on Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation in 2003. This evolution continues with Undoing Ruin in 2005 and Deliver Us in 2007, two records often associated with the period when Darkest Hour established itself durably on North American and European metal scenes, between sustained touring and appearances at major festivals. Over the years, the quintet has undergone several lineup changes around the core formed by John Henry and Mike Schleibaum, notably the arrival of drummer Travis Orbin and bassist Aaron Deal, and later guitarist Nico Santora in 2021. After The Eternal Return in 2009, The Human Romance in 2011, the album Darkest Hour in 2014, and Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora in 2017, Darkest Hour continued its journey with Perpetual Terminal in 2024, maintaining this dense writing where thrash velocity, dark melodies, and hardcore tension intersect.
