Metronomy
Born in Totnes, Devon around Joseph Mount in the late 1990s, Metronomy began as a bedroom project before evolving into a live band and later a studio collective with the arrival of Oscar Cash, then Anna Prior and Olugbenga Adelekan, and later Michael Lovett. Metronomy’s music blends electronic pop, indietronica, nu-disco, new wave and synth-driven rock, marked by a taste for off-kilter rhythms, oblique melodies and songwriting that alternates between danceable tracks and more introspective formats. After their debut album Pip Paine (Pay the £5000 You Owe) in 2005, Metronomy refined their identity with Nights Out in 2008 and broadened their audience with The English Riviera in 2011, an album that further established their mix of luminous pop and precise electronic arrangements. Love Letters followed in 2014, Summer 08 in 2016, Metronomy Forever in 2019 and Small World in 2022. Alongside these releases Joseph Mount has done regular remix work, while Metronomy toured clubs, festivals and major stages across Britain and Europe, evolving from a solo project into a more flexible collective.
