Papooz play on 8 April 2026 at Melkweg, Amsterdam. The French duo Ulysse Cottin and Armand Penicaut met in the queue for a Patti Smith concert and discovered pop as their common language. Since their breakthrough with Ann Wants to Dance (2015), they have moved fluidly between bossa nova influences, Californian soft rock and British pop. Their songs are powered by light grooves, smooth guitar lines and androgynous vocals, with lyrics that mix buoyancy and a touch of melancholy. Over ten years they have released three albums and honed an organic, melody-driven sound.
On stage they put the emphasis on vocal harmonies, swaying rhythms and hooks that linger. In Amsterdam they will perform a set that runs through their repertoire, from the earliest singles to more recent work, with room for dynamics and detail. Papooz as a duo: two voices, guitars to the fore, and pop that sits close to the audience.
