Moonbootica

Behind Moonbootica are Hamburg DJs KoweSix (real name Oliver Kowalski) and Tobitob (Tobias Schmidt), who have played together since late 1999 after launching a series of club nights in Hamburg. The Moonbootica project sits in club electronic music at the intersection of house, techno and electro, with hip‑hop influences audible in the rhythmic treatment and in certain vocal collaborations. Moonbootica also founded the label Moonbootique, used for some of their productions. After several maxi singles in the early 2000s, they released a self‑titled debut album in 2005, followed by Moonlight Welfare in 2007, which notably includes “Der Mond” with Jan Delay. The discography continues with Our Disco Is Louder Than Yours (2012), Shine (2014) and Future (2018). Alongside their releases, Moonbootica have produced remixes for artists and bands such as Faithless, Beatsteaks and Skunk Anansie, and have collaborated on individual tracks with Redman, WhoMadeWho and Nneka. Initially rooted in the DJ‑set format, Moonbootica later developed a live show presented in European clubs and at a number of festivals.
