Mo'Kalamity

Rooted in the Paris reggae scene, Mo'Kalamity has been developing a roots project since the mid-2000s that reflects her Cape Verdean origins and urban grounding. A singer-songwriter, she performs in English and French on compositions that blend roots reggae, dub influences and touches of soul, with particular attention to vocal harmonies and bass lines. Backed by her band The Wizards, Mo'Kalamity builds a live-band sound centered on a traditional reggae rhythm section, with brass or keyboard arrangements added depending on the project. Active on club and festival stages across France and Europe, she alternates studio work and touring, which shapes an aesthetic oriented toward live performance. Over the course of her albums, recorded partly with her band and sometimes with Jamaican musicians, Mo'Kalamity addresses social, spiritual and personal themes, placing her writing within a so-called conscious reggae tradition while maintaining a strong connection to her Francophone background.
