Clinton Fearon

Shaped in rural 1950s Jamaica, Clinton Fearon was born in 1951 in Saint Andrew parish and came to prominence in Kingston within the emerging roots reggae scene. A bassist, singer and songwriter, he joined The Gladiators in 1969, recording numerous tracks for Studio One and developing a writing style focused on social and spiritual chronicles. After nearly two decades with The Gladiators, Fearon settled in Seattle in the late 1980s and founded the Boogie Brown Band, giving his career a new direction between roots reggae, acoustic influences and more stripped‑down arrangements. His solo work established itself with albums such as Disturb the Devil (1997), What a System (1999), Mi Deh Yah (2010), Heart and Soul (2012), Goodness (2014), This Morning (2016), History Say (2019) and Breaking News (2022), alternating electric formats and voice‑and‑guitar projects. Clinton Fearon's style relies on melodic bass lines, a measured, narrative vocal delivery, classic reggae rhythms and lyrics that revolve around everyday life, Jamaican memory and political themes, which he presents on stages across the United States, Europe and Latin America.
