Youthie

A French musician trained at the Conservatoire de Paris, Youthie develops a project at the crossroads of roots reggae, rocksteady and an organic dub nourished by jazz and diverse musical traditions, from Balkan repertoires to Latin, Middle Eastern, Celtic and Afrobeat influences. The trumpet, which she has played since childhood, occupies a central place in Youthie’s universe alongside the flute, accordion, vocals and bagpipes. Before launching her solo project as Youthie, she spent nearly eight years in Natty Princess as trumpeter and backing vocalist. Studies in musicology later broadened her approach, notably toward world music, while she also played accordion in the streets of Montmartre. The discovery of dub and sound-system culture in 2016, in contact with producer Zulu Vibes, marked a new direction and led her to build a more personal formula combining composition, self-production and instrumental performance. Youthie then founded Youthie Records and released Nomad Skank in 2019 with Macca Dread, followed by the double album The Roots Explorers in 2022, Gecko Tones in 2024 and Alma de Pájaro in 2025. On stage, Youthie performs in concerts, dub sessions and at festivals such as No Logo, Sunska and Dub Camp.
