Les Négresses Vertes

Les Négresses Vertes, formed in Paris in 1987 out of the punk movement, quickly established their unique fusion of acoustic rock, realist chanson and Mediterranean influences. Their debut album Mlah (1988), which became a landmark record of the French alternative scene, propelled the band beyond France with emblematic tracks like "Zobi la mouche" and "Voilà l’été". Fueled by raw, festive energy but also a distinctive popular poetry, the collective toured extensively through the 1990s until pausing in 2001. In 2018 the group's reformation revived the project with a large-scale 350-date tour, confirming the enduring attachment of audiences to this iconic ensemble that left a lasting mark on French music.
