Les Enfoirés
Born in France in the wake of Coluche’s call for Restos du Cœur, Les Enfoirés have since 1985 formed a collective of artists and francophone personalities gathered around a repertoire of French pop and chanson, designed for collective performance and the rendition of popular songs. The project took shape with La Chanson des Restos in 1986, written by Jean-Jacques Goldman, before settling permanently with a first tour in 1989 and then a big annual show from 1992. Les Enfoirés do not function as a stable group but as a troupe with variable geometry, mixing singers, actors, humorists and athletes depending on the edition, in a format that combines stage tableaux, unreleased songs and covers of the Francophone repertoire. Jean-Jacques Goldman has long overseen the artistic direction, until 2016, contributing to the musical and stage identity of Les Enfoirés. Les Enfoirés thus remain a singular format of the French scene, at the crossroads of the variety concert, the television show and the charitable project.
