Luke Slater

Born in Reading, England, Luke Slater emerged in the early 1990s in the wake of British techno, initially with a sound defined by rave energy, fast rhythms and a direct dancefloor approach, before gradually broadening his palette toward more minimal, hypnotic and dub-influenced forms. Under his own name Slater has built a discography that spans several electronic aesthetics: from Freek Funk (1997), dense and futuristic techno, to Wireless (1999), more experimental, and Alright on Top (2002), where the writing moves closer to electro-pop formats. At the same time he developed several aliases, notably Planetary Assault Systems, a project focused on dry, heady and repetitive techno, as well as The 7th Plain and L.B. Dub Corp, which extend his work in ambient, electronica and dub textures. An active DJ on the international scene, Luke Slater regularly plays clubs and techno festivals across Europe and beyond, and in the mid-2000s he launched the Mote-Evolver label to support his productions and those of artists aligned with his universe.
