Answer Code Request

Under the name Answer Code Request, German producer and DJ Patrick Gräser has developed a personal approach to techno since the early 2010s, informed by Berlin’s aesthetic and a marked interest in atmospheric textures. Based in the German capital, Answer Code Request drew attention with maxi releases first on MDR and later on Ostgut Ton, which led to a lasting integration into the scene around the Berghain club, where he became a resident. His music combines straight or broken techno rhythms, inheritances from electro and IDM, massive basslines and melancholic pads, creating a frequently dark, detailed atmosphere that sits between dancefloor drive and more introspective listening. The albums Code (2014) and Gens (2018), both released on Ostgut Ton, crystallize this approach by playing on contrasts between club energy, ambient and breakbeat influences. Alongside his Berlin sets, Answer Code Request regularly performs at clubs and festivals across Europe while continuing to release maxis and remixes within the contemporary techno sphere.
