London Elektricity

London Elektricity is the project of Tony Colman, an English producer, DJ and musician who emerged on the UK drum and bass scene in the late 1990s. The project began as a duo with Chris Goss, also a co‑founder of Hospital Records, before becoming the name under which Colman continued his work solo from 2002 onwards. London Elektricity developed a distinctive approach to drum and bass, combining fast rhythms and supple basslines with songwriting influenced by jazz, soul, funk, broken beat and, at times, touches of house and dub. After Pull the Plug in 1999, London Elektricity released Billion Dollar Gravy (2003), Power Ballads (2005), Syncopated City (2008), Yikes! (2011), Are We There Yet? (2015), Building Better Worlds (2019) and Lunatics & Legends (2025). Part of this repertoire was also conceived for the stage, with a bona fide live band in the early 2000s that included musicians and vocalists such as Liane Carroll and Robert Owens. Alongside his releases, Tony Colman long served as the public face of Hospital Records as a manager, DJ and host of the label's podcast before launching Fast Soul Music. London Elektricity therefore remains associated with a vision of drum and bass that embraces melodic arrangements and song formats.
