Lenzman

Under the name Lenzman, Teije van Vliet has developed since the late 2000s a drum and bass approach rooted in liquid funk, marked by a taste for soulful textures, supple rhythms and an acknowledged influence from 1990s hip-hop. The Dutch producer and DJ first made his mark through a series of releases on specialist labels such as Spearhead, Integral, SGN:LTD, Soul:R and C.I.A., before moving into the Metalheadz sphere, an important stage in his career. His writing favors round basses, melodic pads and vocal elements, in a style that is both fluid and detailed. Over the years Lenzman has collaborated with artists like Redeyes, Total Science, S.P.Y. and Calibre, building a discography that includes the albums Looking At The Stars (2014), Bobby (2019) and A Little While Longer (2021). In 2016 he also launched his own label, The North Quarter, conceived as a space for his music and that of artists aligned with his sensibility, including FD and Redeyes. Onstage as well as in production, Lenzman remains associated with a vision of drum and bass where rhythmic precision converses with a warmer, more introspective palette.
