DRS

Under the name DRS, Delroy Pottinger made his mark on the British scene at the intersection of UK hip‑hop and drum and bass, with a rapid, supple and highly readable phrasing that adapts equally well to soulful and liquid productions as to drier, deeper textures. Active since the 1990s, DRS became the resident MC at Club Xtreme — a period that brought him into contact with LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad and placed him within a circuit where MCs capable of keeping up with drum and bass tempo were then scarce. Alongside his work in the trio Broke 'n' £nglish, DRS multiplied collaborations with producers such as Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Lynx, Icicle and LSB, building a lasting presence across clubs, sound systems and specialist labels. His solo discography is anchored notably by the album I Don’t Usually Like MC’s But... and by Mid Mic Crisis (2015), both released on Soul:R, followed by the EPs Space Cadet (2018) and Space Cadet II (2020). In 2019 DRS also teamed with LSB for the album The Blue Hour, an extension of a body of work in which rap and drum and bass converse without hierarchy.
