Etherwood
Under the name Etherwood, Edward "Woody" Allen has been developing a melodic, introspective strand of drum and bass from Lincoln, England, often associated with liquid funk, where fast rhythms are paired with guitars, airy pads, piano and understated vocals. After discovering drum and bass in the late 1990s, Etherwood began releasing music in the early 2010s, initially producing remixes with Jakwob, including a 2011 cover of Lana Del Rey's "Video Games", followed by "Give It Up" on the compilation Sick Music 3 in 2012 and "Spoken" in 2013. His debut album, Etherwood, was released on Med School in 2013, followed by Blue Leaves (2015), In Stillness (2018) and Neon Dust (2021). Across these records Etherwood has refined a songwriting approach that blends electronic music structures with a songwriter’s sensibility, producing tracks that prioritise melody and atmosphere over raw impact. He also provided vocals on Fred V & Grafix's "Forest Fires" (2014) and has collaborated with artists such as Zara Kershaw, Eva Lazarus, Thomas Oliver, Anile, Keeno and LSB, while remaining associated with the British drum and bass scene around Hospital Records and its satellite labels.
