Kany Garcia
Born in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, in 1982, Kany García has established herself as a singer-songwriter at the crossroads of Latin pop, the ballad and a songwriting approach close to the trova tradition. Trained in music from an early age, she attracted attention on the Puerto Rican scene in the mid-2000s before releasing the album Cualquier Día in 2007, which defined her signature of acoustic guitars, pop arrangements and introspective lyrics. She followed with Boleto de Entrada (2009) and the self-titled Kany García (2012), confirming a trajectory focused on Spanish-language songwriting and collaborations across the Latin-American scene. Her discography expanded with Limonada (2016), Soy Yo (2018) and Contra el Viento (2019), where her writing gained nuance while remaining rooted in contemporary pop. In 2020, Mesa Para Dos explored the duet format with various Spanish-speaking artists, and El Amor Que Merecemos (2022) continued her work on personal narratives, romantic relationships and everyday life. Active as a live performer in Puerto Rico, the United States, Latin America and Spain, Kany García develops a repertoire centred on voice, immediate melodies and a restrained emotional register that remain at the core of her musical identity.
