Carlos Rivera

Born in 1986 in Huamantla, in the state of Tlaxcala, Mexico, Carlos Rivera came to prominence in the mid-2000s after winning the talent show La Academia, which launched a career spanning Latin pop, romantic ballads and reinterpretations of Mexican repertoire. Based in Mexico City, Rivera has developed a musical world centered on melodic pop song, where contemporary arrangements sit alongside influences from bolero, mariachi and light pop rock. Alongside his early recordings, he distinguished himself on stages of Spanish-language musicals, notably in productions of La Bella y la Bestia and El Rey León in Mexico and Spain, stage work that reinforced the narrative dimension of his performance. Signed to Sony Music, Carlos Rivera has recorded a series of studio albums shaping his discography: Carlos Rivera (2007), Mexicano (2010), El hubiera no existe (2013), Yo creo (2016), Guerra (2018), Leyendas (2021) and Sincerándome (2023), alternating original compositions, duets with Latin American artists and tributes to Hispanic musical heritage. With tours across the Spanish-speaking world and regular collaborations within the Latin-pop scene, Carlos Rivera occupies a space that connects romantic song, Mexican popular culture and mainstream media formats.
