Carin Leon

Born in Hermosillo, in the state of Sonora in northern Mexico, Carin Leon — whose real name is Óscar Armando Díaz de León Huez (1989) — belongs to the regional Mexican tradition, blending banda, norteño, sierreño, mariachi and ranchera ballads. After honing his skills as a guitarist and singer with the group Grupo Arranke, he launched a solo career in the late 2010s and drew attention with a repertoire where corridos sit alongside more intimate romantic songs. Carin Leon has developed a style focused on voice and storytelling, with arrangements that combine banda brass, acoustic guitars and slow to mid tempos, while occasionally incorporating pop and country hues from the Mexican and Latino scene based in the United States. His solo discography took shape with the album A Puro Pelo (2019), followed by Inédito (2021) and Colmillo de Leche (2023), which continue his exploration of formats ranging from traditional serenades to more contemporary duets. Active on both Mexican and North American stages, Carin Leon has collaborated repeatedly with norteña bands and Latin pop artists such as Grupo Frontera, Maluma and Camilo, consolidating a position at the intersection of regional, urban and border audiences.
