Litfiba
Formed in Florence in 1980, Litfiba emerged from the thriving Tuscan new wave scene centered on Ghigo Renzulli, Piero Pelù, Gianni Maroccolo and Antonio Aiazzi. The early records — from the soundtrack Eneide di Krypton (1983) to Desaparecido (1985), 17 re (1986) and Litfiba 3 (1988) — established a taut rock language influenced by dark wave, post-punk and Mediterranean tones. In the early 1990s the band effectively refocused on the Pelù–Renzulli partnership and shifted its aesthetic toward a more direct rock, blending hard rock, Latin rock and pop rock on albums such as El diablo (1990), Terremoto (1993), Spirito (1994), Mondi sommersi (1997) and Infinito (1999). After Pelù’s departure, Ghigo Renzulli kept Litfiba active with new line-ups on Elettromacumba (2000), Insidia (2001) and Essere o sembrare (2005). The reunion of Pelù and Renzulli in 2009 opened a new phase, sustained by touring and the albums Grande nazione (2012) and Eutòpia (2016), before a farewell tour in 2022. Since 2025 Litfiba has resumed activity with the return of its historic core, continuing the trajectory from Florentine clubs to major Italian stages and numerous European festivals.
