Vasco Rossi
Born in Zocca, in Emilia-Romagna, Vasco Rossi established himself at the end of the 1970s as a distinctive voice of Italian rock, at the crossroads of pop rock, hard rock and songwriter’s writing. After a first 7-inch single in 1977, he published ...Ma cosa vuoi che sia una canzone... in 1978, then followed with Non siamo mica gli americani! in 1979, where Albachiara already appears. The albums Colpa d’Alfredo (1980), Siamo solo noi (1981), Vado al massimo (1982) and Bollicine (1983) establish a direct, nervous style, often ironical, carried by rock refrains and lyrics anchored in everyday life, desire, boredom or protest. Vasco Rossi then undergoes several evolutions, from a more upfront register to a more introspective writing, visible in C’è chi dice no (1987), Liberi liberi (1989), Gli spari sopra (1993), Nessun pericolo... per te (1996), Canzoni per me (1998), Buoni o cattivi (2004), Vivere o niente (2011), Sono innocente (2014) and Siamo qui (2021). His career is also linked to collaborations with Gaetano Curreri and Stadio, as well as a long history of concerts in Italian arenas and stadiums, which became central to Vasco Rossi's identity. A durable figure on the Italian scene, Vasco Rossi has built a discography where ballads, taut rock and songs with a strong generational dimension mix.
