Subsonica

Formed in Turin, Piedmont, in 1996, Subsonica brings together Samuel Romano, Max Casacci, Boosta, Ninja and Vicio around a songwriting approach that blends alternative rock, electronic music and Italian pop. From Subsonica (1997) and Microchip Emozionale (1999), the quintet established itself on the Italian scene with a sound in which guitars, keyboards, taut basslines, rhythms drawing as much from techno as from trip hop or drum and bass, and vocals in Italian coexist in a compact form. With Amorematico (2002), Terrestre (2005), L’eclissi (2007), Eden (2011), Una nave in una foresta (2014), 8 (2018) and Realtà aumentata (2024), Subsonica evolved this foundation into tracks that are at times more melodic, more frontal or more atmospheric, depending on the period, without abandoning an urban, nocturnal aesthetic. The band’s path unfolds between clubs, rock festivals and major Italian stages, while the members’ side projects extend work focused on the tension between pop songwriting, live energy and electronic culture.
