Sean Koch

Between the South African folk scene and European tours, Sean Koch develops intimate songwriting shaped by his back-and-forth between Kommetjie, a coastal village near Cape Town, and the larger cities where he regularly performs. Rooted in a folk and indie aesthetic, he relies on acoustic guitar, light percussion and harmonized vocals, with compositions that combine simple melodies, roots influences and atmospheres tied to surf culture and life by the ocean. After several early tracks released online, a milestone came with the EP “Natural Projection” in 2016, which established him on local stages and led to club and festival tours, notably in Europe. His first album “Your Mind Is A Picture” was released in 2019 and consolidated a repertoire focused on introspective songs about the relationship to nature, travel and human connections. On stage Sean Koch appears solo or with a small band, adapting his arrangements to acoustic or more electric formats while remaining within a folk, pop and mildly psychedelic register.
