Death Angel

Formed in 1982 in the San Francisco Bay Area, with members from the Filipino-American community of Daly City, Death Angel sits within the California thrash metal scene while early on developing a writing style more mobile than the pure speed and aggressive register of its early days. The band first drew attention with The Ultra-Violence in 1987, recorded while its musicians were still very young, followed by Frolic Through the Park in 1988, where its nervous thrash opened to more varied structures. Act III in 1990 marks a new evolution, with more melodies, choruses and nuances borrowed from classic heavy metal. After a bus accident during the tour of this album, Death Angel split up in 1991 before reforming in 2001 around Rob Cavestany and Mark Osegueda. Since then the reform, Death Angel continued with The Art of Dying in 2004, Killing Season in 2008, Relentless Retribution in 2010, The Dream Calls for Blood in 2013, The Evil Divide in 2016 and Humanicide in 2019. Remains very active on international metal stages, Death Angel maintains a thrash approach that is fast, technical and direct, carried by tense riffs, an expressive voice and a strong sense of rhythmic contrast.
