Angus & Julia Stone

Formed in 2006 around Angus Stone and his sister Julia Stone, Angus & Julia Stone work in a folk-rock and indie-pop vein with Americana touches. Their sound is built on the interplay of two very different voices, tight harmonies and often acoustic, understated melodic arrangements. Hailing from Sydney and raised on the Northern Beaches, the two began by performing their own songs at open mics before developing a shared repertoire and gaining notice on the Australian scene and then in the UK. After the EPs Chocolates and Cigarettes (2006) and Heart Full of Wine (2007), they released A Book Like This in 2007 and Down the Way in 2010, the latter bringing wider visibility around “Big Jet Plane.” The duo alternated joint projects with solo breaks, reuniting for the self-titled Angus & Julia Stone in 2014, co-produced with Rick Rubin, and later Snow in 2017. In 2021 they recorded the soundtrack Life Is Strange for the game Life Is Strange: True Colors, before returning to a studio format with Cape Forestier in 2024. Over the years, Angus & Julia Stone have moved between festivals, European tours, US dates and Australian stages, maintaining an intimate songwriting approach between narrative folk, hushed pop and stripped-back ballads.
