In Melbourne, Australia, Tash Sultana has built a solo project that blends intimate songwriting with performances conceived as a one‑person band based on live looping. Initially introduced through self‑released recordings and street performances, Tash Sultana drew attention in the mid‑2010s from the Australian independent scene and the Triple J Unearthed platform, before a wider audience discovered the track “Jungle” from the 2016 EP “Notion”. Tash Sultana's music moves between psychedelic rock, indie, soul, reggae and touches of folk, with a strong improvisational element, layers of textured guitars and a highly expressive voice often stretched into long dynamic climbs. The debut album “Flow State” (2018) consolidated this studio approach while staying close to the live energy, followed by “Terra Firma” (2021), where Tash Sultana pushed arrangements further toward R&B and jazz colors. On stage, Tash Sultana presents this material solo internationally, from intimate clubs to major festivals, and punctuates the career with targeted collaborations with other artists, notably Milky Chance and Matt Corby.
