Fink

Born in St Ives, Cornwall and based in the United Kingdom, Fin Greenall developed the Fink project in the late 1990s in the wake of the downtempo and trip hop scenes associated with the Ninja Tune label. Initially focused on electronic production, Fink released the album Fresh Produce in 2000, then gradually shifted his work toward acoustic folk and blues songwriting centered on guitar and voice. From Biscuits for Breakfast (2006) the project took the form of a trio with bass and drums; this band format became Fink's primary configuration on stage and in the studio, giving his songs a balance between rhythmic tension, sparseness and repetitive melodies. The albums Distance and Time (2007) and Sort of Revolution (2009) established this blend of dark folk, understated soul and atmospheres derived from electronic music, continued by Perfect Darkness (2011), Hard Believer (2014), Resurgam (2017) and Bloom Innocent (2019). Alongside his studio records, Fink explored live and orchestral formats—most notably Fink Meets The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (2013)—while working as a songwriter and composer for other artists, anchoring his work between the independent scene, intimate songcraft and electronic culture.
