Harry Romero
Based in New York, Harry Romero established himself from the second half of the 1990s on the American house scene under his own name and the alias Harry “Choo Choo” Romero. His career is closely tied to Subliminal Records, where he developed a direct, vocal-led club house style nourished by funk grooves, Latin touches and a marked emphasis on percussion. Romero pursued numerous parallel projects, notably with Erick Morillo and Jose Nuñez in Constipated Monkeys, The Dronez and Ministers De-La-Funk, while also releasing productions and remixes for the international house scene. Key entries in his discography include “Just Can’t Get Enough” with Inaya Day (1999), “I Want Out (I Can’t Believe)” (2001) and the album Thatbeat (2004). In 2000 he launched Bambossa Records, a label tied to the Subliminal ecosystem that accompanied the evolution of his work as a producer and DJ. Over the years Romero has continued to alternate solo releases, collaborations with vocalists such as Robert Owens, Jocelyn Brown and Shawnee Taylor, and a regular presence on club- and festival-oriented house circuits.
