JMSN
Born in Detroit and based in Los Angeles, JMSN is the R&B project of American singer, songwriter and producer Christian Berishaj. He was first active in the pop-rock band Love Arcade and later recorded under the electro-pop alias Christian TV before reinventing himself in the early 2010s. Launched in 2011 and released through his own label White Room Records, Berishaj steered JMSN toward introspective alternative soul, informed by 1990s R&B, slow ballads, guitar arrangements and dense backing choirs. The debut album Priscilla (2012) established that aesthetic and led to studio collaborations with the hip‑hop scene, notably Kendrick Lamar on good kid, m.A.A.d city. JMSN then built a steady catalogue, from the EP †Pllajë† (2013) to the albums JMSN (Blue Album) (2014), It Is. (2016), Whatever Makes U Happy (2017), Velvet (2018), the live recording Live at Water Village (2019) and Heals Me (2021), where the project shifts toward a more organic soul driven by band interplay and voice-centred songwriting. Performing in clubs and mid-size venues across the United States and Europe, JMSN occupies a space that links contemporary R&B, soul and indie pop.
