Willow

Born in Los Angeles, California, Willow Smith, who records under the name Willow, was exposed to the public at a very young age before steering her career toward music in the early 2010s. Her first hit Whip My Hair in 2010 positioned her in a pop-R&B realm aimed at a broad audience, but Willow soon moved away from that format to develop a more personal writing, between alternative R&B, psychedelic soul, rock, funk and art pop. This evolution is reflected in her albums Ardipithecus (2015), The 1st (2017) and Willow (2019), then in The Anxiety (2020), a duo project with Tyler Cole, from which Meet Me at Our Spot emerged. In 2021, Willow turned toward pop-punk and alternative rock with Lately I Feel Everything, notably propelled by Transparent Soul with Travis Barker, before continuing this direction on Coping Mechanism (2022). With Empathogen (2024), Willow again shifts aesthetic frame, incorporating more jazz, funk and experimental approaches. Over the years, Willow has moved between pop, rock and alternative scenes, on tour as well as at festivals, and has also supported artists such as Jhené Aiko, Machine Gun Kelly and Childish Gambino.
