George Canyon
Born in New Glasgow and raised in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, George Canyon has established himself in Canadian country with a repertoire rooted in contemporary country, balladry, and accessible songwriting marked by North American radio-friendly formats. Active since the late 1990s, he gained national prominence after taking part in the second season of Nashville Star in 2004, where his visibility broadened in Canada as well as the United States. Later settled in Calgary, George Canyon has built a steady career between touring, country festivals and television, while remaining tied to the Canadian scene. His discography includes notably George Canyon (2004), One Good Friend (2004), Somebody Wrote Love (2006), Classics (2007), What I Do (2008), Better Be Home Soon (2011), Classics II (2012) and I Got This (2015). His style rests on a deep voice, clear production and arrangements that blend country pop, light honky-tonk and road or home-themed songs. Alongside music, George Canyon has also worked as an on-screen actor, appearing notably in Trailer Park Boys and Heartland, which helped broaden his public presence without breaking with his musical roots.
