Hands Like Houses
Formed in Canberra, Australia, Hands Like Houses emerged from the rock and post-hardcore scene that developed in the late 2000s, centered on vocalist Trenton Woodley and guitarists Matt Cooper and Alex Pearson. The band developed a sound combining heavy guitars, atmospheric textures and melodic vocals, often structured around dynamic buildups rather than outright aggression, placing Hands Like Houses on the border between post-hardcore, alternative rock and more modern influences. Quickly noticed by the American label Rise Records, the band released their debut album, "Ground Dweller", in 2012, followed by "Unimagine" (2013) and "Dissonants" (2016), which confirmed a songwriting approach focused on contrasts between rock energy and more open passages. With "-Anon." (2018), Hands Like Houses emphasized a shift toward more direct alternative rock with tighter structures, a development continued on the self-titled EP "Hands Like Houses" in 2020. Active on North American, European and Australian stages — notably via the Vans Warped Tour and tours supporting other post-hardcore acts — Hands Like Houses has established a lasting place in the international rock landscape by balancing their earlier edgier sound with a progressively more melodic approach.
