Thousand Below
Rooted in San Diego’s post-hardcore scene in California, Thousand Below has developed a sound that blends melodic post-hardcore, metalcore and alternative rock, driven by atmospheric guitars and a marked contrast between clean vocals and screamed passages. Formed in the mid-2010s, the band gained attention on the US circuit before signing with Rise Records and releasing their debut album The Love You Let Too Close in 2017, which established Thousand Below’s sonic blueprint with introspective lyrics and highly melodic structures. In 2019, Gone In Your Wake intensified the emphasis on atmosphere, featuring more sung vocal lines and more varied tempos, while the 2020 EP Let Go Of Your Love offered stripped-down, more pop-oriented reinterpretations. With Hell Finds You Everywhere (2022), Thousand Below continued to explore a sound that is both dense and accessible, balancing post-hardcore tension, airy textures and songwriting focused on loss, isolation and relationships. Active on stages across the US and Europe, Thousand Below is part of a network of tours and clubs associated with contemporary alternative music.
