Current Value

Under the name Current Value, Tim Eliot has developed in Berlin a body of work focused on the densest and most abrasive forms of drum and bass — straddling techstep, darkstep, neurofunk and occasional incursions into dubstep. Active since the late 1990s, he released his first tracks on Position Chrome and Don Q Records before expanding his discography with labels such as Intransigent, Subsistenz, Critical, Invisible, Blackout and Souped Up. The albums Frequency Hunt (1998), Seeds Of Mutation (1999) and In A Far Future (2000) quickly established a style marked by metallic textures, sharply cut rhythms and a sonic pursuit of speed and saturation. Over the years Current Value has evolved that language on releases like 2012: The Day Of Silence (2009), Quantum Physics (2012), Biocellulose (2016), PUER and SENEX (2019), followed by The All Attracting (2021), Platinum Scatter (2022) and Beneath The Sonics (2023). He has also worked as part of the Machine Code project and in 2012 produced a remix of Björk’s “Crystalline” for the Biophilia Remix Series I.
