The Clamps

Under the name The Clamps, Julien Carbou, based in Toulouse, develops work centred on tense, dark drum & bass, infused with techno and industrial elements. Active in music since the late 1990s through various projects, The Clamps follows a long-term trajectory within the electronic scenes and has built a discography spanning more than a decade. His approach combines fast rhythms, abrasive textures and precise construction, in a register that moves between neurofunk, bass music and mechanical atmospheres. Alongside his solo work, The Clamps has opened other creative frameworks: Burr Oak with Opsen, Forum with Opsen and SKS, and Third Colony with Deerhill, each project extending a different facet of his output. The Clamps also works as a DJ, performing in clubs and at festivals in several countries with sets oriented toward the densest, most physical forms of contemporary drum & bass.
