Limewax

Born in 1988, Maxim Anokhin developed Limewax from Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ukraine, before continuing his career in the Netherlands, where he settled in Tilburg in the late 1990s. Limewax emerged in the mid-2000s in the harder end of drum and bass, with a sound positioned between hardstep, darkstep, techstep, skullstep and touches of breakcore. His first EP, Changing Crisis, was released in 2005 on Tech Itch Recordings; thereafter Limewax released material on labels such as Freak Recordings, Obscene, PRSPCT, Position Chrome, Lost Soul Recordings and L/B. The music is built on fast breaks, sustained tension, abrasive textures and a dark, sometimes industrial-leaning aesthetic. Notable releases include the LPs Scars On The Horizon (2007) and Empfindsamer Stil (2011). Over the years Limewax has collaborated with Current Value, The Panacea, SPL, Proket and Cooh, and his trajectory remains tied to the Therapy Sessions and PRSPCT scenes where he operates as a producer and DJ.
