Dynamite Mc

Active between Bristol, Gloucester and the British scene of the 1990s, Dynamite MC, born Dominic Smith in 1973, first made his mark in the jungle and drum and bass world before developing a parallel career in hip-hop. He started as an MC on pirate radio Crush FM in Gloucester, then in the mid-1990s joined the circle of Roni Size and the Full Cycle crew. This trajectory led him to Reprazent, where his voice accompanied notably New Forms in 1997 and In the Mode in 2000, with a more pronounced role in the rap-oriented approach of the second album. As a solo artist, Dynamite MC links hip-hop flow, club energy, and breakbeat rhythms, with direct writing and phrasing rooted in the British MC tradition. His album The World of Dynamite was released in 2004, followed by Big Man Talk Mixtape in 2006, then several projects extending this crossover between rap, bass music and drum and bass, including All 4 Corners with Krafty Kuts in 2017, Playing the Dark with DRS in 2020 and Deep Waters in 2022. Over the years, Dynamite MC also collaborates with producers and DJs from drum and bass, breakbeat and dubstep, while remaining active on live stages and soundsystem formats where his sense of rhythm and improvisation remains central.
