wakelee

Born in Brooklyn in 2019, wakelee brings together twin brothers Alex Bulmer (vocals, guitar) and David Bulmer (drums), alongside Elliot Shiang (vocals, bass). The trio formed in New York after meeting at a friend’s gig, emerging from the local indie scene. wakelee develops taut, melodic indie rock with emo inflections, featuring songs that blend direct guitar lines, nervous rhythms and often shared vocal parts. Since their beginnings the band has released an EP and a series of singles that have gradually defined an aesthetic balancing live-band energy with introspective songwriting. Operating between indie rock, alternative rock and contemporary emo while keeping to compact song forms, wakelee is rooted in the New York context yet maintains an accessible and upfront approach; they belong to a generation of bands that value melodic effectiveness as much as instrumental tension.
