Disiz
French rapper Sérigne M’Baye Gueye is best known by his stage name Disiz. Formerly known as Disiz la Peste, he broke into the mainstream in the early 2000s with the hit “J’pète les plombs.” In 1999, his first maxi single, “C’que les gens veulent entendre (Bête de bombe),” was praised by Joey Starr and Cut Killer. His debut album, “Le poisson rouge,” arrived in 2000, received broad media coverage, and sold in the thousands. Three years later, Disiz released his second album, “Jeu de société,” on Barclay, featuring Booba on the track “Evry Slang.” Disiz also tried his hand at acting, appearing in the films Dans tes rêves (2004) and Petits meurtres en famille (2006). His third album, Les histoires extraordinaires d’un jeune de banlieue, won a Victoire de la Musique, and a few years later his seventh album, Extra-Lucide, was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique. On this record, Disiz collaborated with OrelSan, another rising figure on the French rap scene. Drawing on years of studio and live experience, he embarked on a new tour in 2013, with appearances including the Francofolies festival and the Printemps de Bourges.
