Denzel Curry

Born in Carol City, Florida, in 1995, Denzel Curry is part of the generation of rappers that emerged in the early 2010s around the internet scene and independent collectives. He first made his name within SpaceGhostPurrp’s Raider Klan, where he developed a vision blending Southern rap heritage, dark imagery, and rapid-fire flows. After several self-released mixtapes, he issued his debut studio album, Nostalgic 64, in 2013, establishing a style that straddles hardcore hip-hop, cloud-rap influences, and introspective touches. The 2015 EP 32 Zel/Planet Shrooms marked a key milestone, followed by the 2016 mixtape Imperial and the 2018 album Ta13oo, which broadened his palette into more varied atmospheres. With 2019’s Zuu, Curry returned to Miami-rooted sounds, while 2022’s Melt My Eyez See Your Future explored more open arrangements that at times lean toward jazz and soul. Known for collaborating with producers like Kenny Beats and for guest features across different strands of the U.S. rap scene, Denzel Curry moves between conceptual projects and more direct formats while remaining committed to personal lyricism and a striking intensity in his recordings.
