Blue October
Formed in Houston in 1995 before relocating to San Marcos, Texas, Blue October crafts an American alternative rock that blends guitars and pop melodies with post‑grunge tension and arrangements for violin, mandolin and piano. Centered on singer‑songwriter Justin Furstenfeld — with Jeremy Furstenfeld, Ryan Delahoussaye and Matt Noveskey in its most stable lineup — Blue October first emerged on the late‑1990s Texas scene with The Answers (1998) and Consent to Treatment (2000). History for Sale (2003) widened their profile, and Foiled (2006), propelled by “Hate Me” and “Into the Ocean,” established the band within the 2000s American alternative‑rock landscape. Subsequent releases from Approaching Normal (2008) through Any Man in America (2011), Sway (2013), Home (2016), I Hope You’re Happy (2018) and This Is What I Live For (2020) continued a songwriting approach focused on the personal, alternating rock energy, taut ballads and more radio‑friendly formats. With Spinning the Truth Around Part I and Part II (2022), followed by Part III (2023), Blue October continues this trajectory between confession, pop‑rock and more atmospheric moods.
