Formed by cousins Apolline and Zoé, copycat sits in a French scene where pop and rock cross paths with direct energy and lyrics anchored in the daily life of their generation. The duo blends guitar, bass, electronic rhythms, and vocal harmonies in a tight format, with concise writing that shifts from irony to more intimate subjects such as the relationship to the body, romantic relationships, or the contradictions of their twenties. Noticed in France's circuit of emerging music, copycat has notably been programmed at Inouïs du Printemps de Bourges, selected by the Fair and present at Bars en Trans, steps that situate its development on the current scenes of independent rock and pop. Their first EP, Morning Routine, marks the project's discographic debut and lays the foundations of a lively, tense and melodic aesthetic, where the urgency of rock opens to pop refrains and a deliberately frontal approach.
