Kashus Culpepper
Born in Alabama, Kashus Culpepper develops a repertoire rooted in the music of the American South, at the crossroads of country, soul, blues, folk and a sober rock tinged with Americana. His journey begins in religious singing during childhood, before a later turn to writing and performing during his Navy service, when he learned guitar in 2020 during a deployment to Rota, Spain. Back in the United States, Kashus Culpepper plays in bars and small venues along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where his deep, husky voice asserts itself in songs focused on storytelling, the country tradition and a very present soul sensibility. First spotted on stage before a major official release, Kashus Culpepper sees his name circulate in the Southern circuit and then in Nashville, where he signs with Big Loud Records. He then shares the bill with Leon Bridges, Sierra Ferrell, Darius Rucker, Wyatt Flores and Eric Church, in a context where his music remains built on spare songs, a direct interpretation and a blend of country classicism and rhythm and blues inflections. His first album, Act I, is released in 2025.
