Anne Paceo
Born in Niort in 1984, Anne Paceo emerged on the French jazz scene in the mid‑2000s, first as a drummer and later as a composer and bandleader. Her first major milestone, Triphase — a trio formed with Leonardo Montana and Joan Eche‑Puig — established a writing approach in which contemporary jazz, improvisation and a highly mobile rhythmic work coexist without showmanship. Anne Paceo then broadened her field with more open formations and a music that is less strictly acoustic, attentive to atmospheres, cycles, the voice and influences from pop, world music and minimalism. This evolution is reflected in albums such as Yôkaï (2012), Bright Shadows (2019) and S.H.A.M.A.N.E.S. (2022). Alongside her personal projects, Anne Paceo has also performed with musicians like Rhoda Scott and Archie Shepp, in contexts ranging from jazz quartets to improvised‑music stages. Her music moves forward through textures, pulse and collective tension, giving central importance to the ensemble sound as well as to the drums.
